REVIEW! | Revlon Baby Stick in Sunset, Lip Butters in Juicy Papaya and Pink Lemonade

I was beyond excited when I happened upon the display for the Revlon Spring 2013 Pacific Coast Collection by Gucci Westman at my local CVS.  The bright, punchy colors!  Emma Stone!  BABY STICKS! [That should be shouted like Cookie Monster for the proper effect.]

Being a gal who feels that Lip Butters are the absolute JAM, I picked up two new shades: Juicy Papaya, a peachy coral, and Pink Lemonade, a shimmering pink.

What can I say about these?  They're awesome!  My favorite of the two is Juicy Papaya, but they are both hydrating, extremely comfortable to wear, and both add a hint of color and a ton of shine.  They are scent and taste-free, and last about 3 hours before it's time for me to reapply.

Where to Buy: Target (These are available at most major retailers, drugstores, and grocery stores in the US)

And now on to the Baby Stick.  I have to say, the product name is a little odd.  I mean, Baby Stick?  The name notwithstanding, I was ridiculously excited to try this multi-use product!
Revlon Baby Stick in Sunset
Revlon says this lip and cheek stick gives you a "perfect flush of color and soft, dewy finish with a non-sticky feel."  After having to swipe it across my arm eighteen (!!!) times just to get enough color to show up for the swatch pictures, I wasn't quite so excited to try this on my face.

I have never worked harder to get something to show up to photograph it.  The above swatches are the result of nearly twenty passes!  Sunset is a sheer burnt orange with a gel-like consistency.  When I applied it to my cheeks, I had the same results: a lot of swiping and very little color payoff.  What I did have in spades was what felt like Chapstick on my cheeks.  Sunset never "set" (no pun intended), so it just sat on top of my skin.  I could've dragged my nails through it and left trails.

I'm just showing the size (and my overall gut reaction) in the picture above; I'm not wearing it.

I applied it to my lips and couldn't detect any color, but it was comfortable to wear.  I think of the two functions it promises to serve, it performs much better as a lip product.

Hopefully, the other three Baby Stick shades perform better than Sunset.  [Edit: A quick google search for reviews shows all of these shades are getting panned for similar bad behavior!]  If you're looking for a great gel cheek stain, I recommend Tarte's.

My Rating: D

Cost: $10.00
Where to Buy: I bought mine from my local CVS, but can't seem to find them on their website.

  1. Too bad about the Baby Sticks. I've tried the Tarte Cheek Stain in Flush, and it's fantastic! I'm also loving the new Revlon lip butters so much!

  5. I like Juicy Papaya the most! Too bad the cheek stain doesn't set. I don't think I own a blush stick to be honest. Maybe I should start hunting for one :)

    1. The NYX stick blushes are really good and priced really well! Shiseido also makes a blush stick that looks beautiful but I've never tried that one.
