REVIEW! | MAC In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder {Baking Beauties Collection}

MAC In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder

MAC Baking Beauties for Summer 2013 (available now) is a twenty four piece color collection inspired by the artistry of cake decoration.  Today we're looking at the In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder, a sweet confection for your cheeks!
MAC In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder
I've only just discovered the magic of Pearlmattes during the Archie's Girls collection released earlier this year.  Depending on which shade you choose and the tone of your skin, these can be used as a highlighter, sheer blush, or an all-over face powder to give you a glow.  Pearlmattes are not a permanent member of MAC's line, but they often pop up in limited edition collections and sell out fast! MAC In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder
In for a Treat, $30.00 USD for 0.42 oz, is described as a "champagne base with matte coral flowers and mint leaves."  The flowers and leaves are stamped into the powder and go all the way through, while the opalescent white border is an overspray that disappears completely after the first or second use.
MAC In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder
I prefer the powder more once the white overspray disappears (about 2 uses).  You can certainly expedite this by circling a blush brush around the perimeter a few times and the overspray will be gone.  Of course, some people will love the added shimmer, but just know that it goes fast!  Once the overspray has worn away, you have a light warm pinky-champagne color with a sheen finish that lends a soft glow to skin.
Wearing MAC In for a Treat Pearlmatte Face Powder
I love the versatility of Pearlmattes; use them alone as a soft wash of color and hint of a glow on your cheeks, or layer it over your favorite blush to punch it up.  You can even use them as eyeshadows!  Every single Pearlmatte I've tried has been finely milled and long-wearing on my normal-to-oily skin.

This is limited edition, so if you want to add In for a Treat to your collection, get it soon before it disappears from counters and MAC.com!

  1. Hey Kristen, I can definitely see the sheen on your skin! Glad to hear the overspray goes after two uses though. I usually go for pretty understated shimmer on my skin :)

  5. I almost got this one but I was hoping they'd be pigmented blushes since I have so many highlighters. The Face Powders from this collection are SO pretty

  6. I probably should've posted a second picture of this once the white overspray was gone because it's much less shimmer-tastic! :)

  7. I know! But when there's flowers or hearts embossed on a powder, it's like I can't control myself. LOL!

  8. Thanks, Laurie! :) I think half the fun of these is the adorableness that is the pan design!

  9. They are definitely on the sheer side as far as using it as a blush, but you're so right - they are just pretty as a picture!
