REVIEW! | MAC Select Cover-Up in NW25

If you've got a spot, yo, this'll solve it!  MAC's Select Cover-Up, described as "liquid camouflage for the skin", is a full coverage concealer that really delivers.

I've been having some hormone-related break outs on my chin (previously described as "chacne") and the concealer I normally use for assorted spots n' dots just wasn't getting the job done.  Everything was covered at the beginning of the day, but by mid-afternoon the concealer had done the Freak Nasty and dipped.  I randomly came across a photo on Instagram of MAC Select Cover-Up and, after reading a few reviews, I decided to give it a try.

It's an opaque, creamy liquid formula in a squeeze tube with a needle-fine applicator.  Don't let the small size fool you: a tiny dab of this powerful concealer covers a LOT.  I think this tube might last me ten years!

Now for some grossness!  Who DOESN'T want to see someone's zits magnified?!  If you don't, skip over the next shot!
Below I've applied foundation and a dab of MAC Select Cover-Up over the blemish using a concealer brush and blended it out with my finger.
Full face shot from that day below.
The shot below was taken the day I bought Select Cover-Up.  Probs are evident.  I needn't point out that this is the before shot.
After.
I'd compare the coverage to that of Benefit's Erase Paste if any of you have tried that.  What I love about Select Cover-Up is that it blends seamlessly into the skin, doesn't crack, and stays in place all day on my combination-oily skin.

For anyone struggling with blemishes or sun spots, I think you'd really appreciate what this concealer can do!

My Rating: A
Cost: $18.00 USD/$22.00 CAD

  3. I love that you were brave enough to show the breakouts!! That's the only way we can see what the product does to coverup!! I have used Erase Paste for forever, but haven't ever tried this MAC version of concealer. Will have to check it out! Thanks for keeping it real:)

  4. Thank you! It's always a bit scary to post zit pics, but like you said - it's the only way to show how well this stuff works! Erase Paste is awesome, but I think I like this even more! You'll definitely have to check it out and tell me what you think!

  6. Hey Kristen, I might need to take a look at this! I haaate hormone breakouts! Those are the WORST! Usually I can keep them under control with La Roche Posay Effaclar K/Duo, but sometimes there is something ULTRA vicious! For the moment I use NARS stick concealer, but it could look cakey in that situation. Maybe I'm not using it right though ;)

  8. Oh my, the after photo looks great! It definitely does the job, huh? I personally use MAC's Pro Longwear COncealer, but I am tempted to give this one a try as well now. God knows I need it lately :-(

  9. I have not tried the Pro Longwear concealer before but I know it's a major favorite for a lot of people! I think the Select Cover-Up is thicker, which I clearly NEEDED! Thank you - I was so happy it worked as well as it did! :)

  11. ULTRA vicious! I like that! That's the perfect description! I was definitely made a believer after experiencing this concealer during those multiple break outs. I've never tried the NARS stick concealer, but you know I love the Radiant Creamy Concealer BIG TIME! :)
