REVIEW! | Dior Addict Lipstick in Rose Déshabillé

In the words of Mrs. Doubtfire, HELLOOOOOO!

SO SORRY for the long delay since my last post!  I've had quite a bit going on with work and wedding (gurrrrrrllll...let me tell you...I had to buy a new wedding dress!!!  With less than 2 months to spare!  More on that in a minute) so I haven't had time to sit down, zen out, and compose a post.  I decided to MAKE time so here we are!  Thank you for sticking with me!

Today I decided to review a lipstick I've had a long-standing love affair with but have never posted about!  The lover I speak of is Dior Addict Lipstick in 260 Rose Déshabillé, which means Pink Negligee in French.  Ooh la la!
Rose Déshabillé is a sheer cool pink with microfine shimmer, giving the lips a divine look of fullness.
This lipstick feels like absolute butter going on!  You seriously may use up a quarter of the tube in a week just because it feels so heavenly when you apply it.  You can wear a swipe or two for a sheer hint of pink or really jam it home (hockey slang totally works for makeup application, right?!) by coating the lips like it's going out of style tomorrow.  Either way, it's a beautiful color and I reach for it so often it's earned a permanent spot in my purse for quick-draw application situations!

Rose Déshabillé lasts on my lips for about 3 hours before I start feeling the itch to reapply.  It may last longer in the warmer months when my lips aren't parched and ravaged from winter dryness.
I know this isn't the greatest lip swatch, but it's after 2 AM so my makeup isn't exactly fresh and my chin has been breaking out like crazy.  I figured this was better than nothing!

Oh dear, I haven't even mentioned the packaging!  It is an absolute stunner.  The lipstick is housed in a metal tube that slides out of a plastic outer case stamped with Dior.  Though the outer part appears clear at first glance, caught in the right lighting, it has a gorgeous iridescent purple to yellow ombre color.  Remember "Bo Knows Football"?  Think "Dior Knows Packaging"!  The fancy case is just the icing on top of a lovely cupcake of a lipstick, but the beautiful shell also bumps it up into the fabulous gift category.  Wrapping paper is completely moot!

Look how much I've used!!  I'm SO close to hitting lipstick PAN!
Have you tried any of the offerings from the Dior Addict Lipstick line?  What's your favorite shade?

My Rating: A
Where to Buy: Sephora

Ok, y'all.  Let me tell you about the dress sitch!  My mom and I found a beautiful wedding gown together on a random Saturday about 2 years ago.  I've had it hidden away in our spare room ever since.  My goal (2 years ago) was to lose a significant amount of weight for total wedding-day-and-beyond fierceness and have the dress altered to fit my new ballerina-esque frame.  Ah....the best laid plans!  Fast forward to last Saturday, I have yet to lose weight and the wedding date is rapidly approaching (April 26th!) so it's time to give up the good fight and get the dress altered to fit my current shape.  We tote the dress into a lovely Russian lady's tailoring shop.  After much examination, tutting and raised eyebrows, she tells us (my mom and I) that it's outside of her comfort zone and recommends we go to a friend of hers on the other side of town who "might" be able to do it.  Without completely giving away what the dress looks like, there's a lot of ruffles and a train and much complication.  So we go to tailor option 2, who also says he can't do it because it's too difficult.  So I'm pretty much mentally shutting down at this point because WHAT?!  So, being the amazing person that she is, my mom saved the day by suggesting we go to a local dress retailer and have the whole "Are you saying yes to the dress" sparkle fairies moment that we didn't have 2 years prior when we bought my original dress from a bridal outlet.  One major issue we had was the fact that my dress wasn't bought from one of the larger retailers in town so their bridal specialist alterations people wouldn't work on it.  The rule is if you didn't buy it there, you can't have it altered there.  Anywho, at first, I just thought "This is nuts!" but I slept on it and decided I loved the idea of getting a second chance at the whole experience AND buying it from a shop that could do the alterations in-house.  Plus, I figured I could sell my first dress and recoup some, if not all, of the money on it.  So on my mom's 60th birthday, we traipsed out to the bridal shop and ended up finding the most perfect and amazing dress that makes me feel like a Bolshoi ballerina (Swan Lake-style, obvs!)!  It was one of my favorite days ever with my mom, and I am so grateful for her in general and for everything she's done for me both wedding-related and over the years!  My second dress (OMG, I hope you guys don't think I'm a diva!  That sounds SO diva!  I swear I'm not a bratty wiener!) is being altered as we speak and I pick it up on March 26th.  I'm counting down the days and I am SOOOO excited to wear it on my wedding day!  Did you ever think you had something completely nailed down only to have it erupt at the last minute into complete craziness?

Love to you all!  Thank you again for being patient during my slow posting time!

  3. Oh my gosh the dress situation, we are twins. I've done this before with a dress for an event, not quite as exciting as for my wedding but a special event none-the-less. I thought it would motivate me.. I'm so sorry they put you through that "Oh, I can't do this..." making it sound like you're a whale and this expansion project cannot be done hahah, dramatic.. I am so happy you found a lovely dress at the end of it all. I hope you'll share pictures of the wedding after, I'd love to see it!! I can't wait until April 26th because I'm obviously attending in spirit.

As for the lipstick; it looks like a really lovely shade. I've never tried anything Dior in my life and I hope to one day be able to! Haha! I think the best part of this lipstick (besides the actual shade) is the package. It is adorable!

Until next time - Much Love,

  6. So sorry to hear what you had to go through, Kristen! But if you look on the positive side, it brought you to THE PERFECT dress, so I say it's all worth it!!! And it was so nice of your mom to be with you all the way through. You should post some pix of you and your mom out shopping sometimes!! :D

And YES to Dior Addicts! I have a few colors of this formula but not Rose Déshabillé. Now after seeing your swatches, I may have to pick it up! The pretty packaging is just to die for!

And what are you talking about breaking out all over your chin! I see you have like, ONE pimple?! You have to see MY chin! It looks like the surface of the Moon! Hahaha.

I don't know why but I'm actually pretty excited about your wedding. And I haven't met either one of you, lol. April, come faster!!!!! Oops!

  7. I didn't realize your wedding was coming up so soon! 2 months is going to FLY. You and your mom are troopers. :) And if there was ever a time to "fuss" over a dress, this is it, so you might as well revel in it! Good luck with the rest of the wedding planning!

  8. Thank you so much, Liz! And you're right - the last thing I want on this highly photographed day is to trip and fall down the stairs because we couldn't find anyone who could hem my dress! Time is seriously flying!! I'm really excited! :D

  9. You are SO right! I definitely look at the dress experience as a positive since I was able to find a dress that I love. It makes me feel SO good wearing it, and that's what matters! And yes! My mom is awesome and patient and I am so lucky to have her! And you are adorable! You have no idea how much I wish I could invite my bblogger buds from all over the country and the world to the wedding! That would be SO much fun!! If I had endless dough, I would invite everyone and pay for their flights! If I win the lottery in the next 2 months, this will definitely happen! :) :) :)

I think Rose Deshibille is TOTALLY a Jaa color! Cool, fresh pink always looks lovely on you!

Oh you are a sweetheart re: my chin acne! This picture definitely doesn't illustrate what's going on since I'd LOADED my chin with heavy foundation and concealer! I found a very interesting YT video from Wayne Goss where he shares how he got rid of his acne in a week. Turns out, he just used Cetaphil to cleanse, Oxy 10 benzoyl peroxide cream to treat the acne (and he used a TON - really slathered it on), and then used a high SPF moisturizer during the day to help the peeling skin. It was really exciting for me to see since this man has the most gorgeous skin and all of the products he used are available at the drugstore. I started the routine Friday night so we'll see. The active spots on my chin finally came to a head last night and look flatter now. If this process works, I will definitely write a full post about it! 10. Woohooo! A Kristen shade! I love it! I think I'll pick up another one when I finish this one, maybe venture into another color. Do you have a fave? I've been eyeing the brownish-toned New York for a bit...
I know, right?!? I AM lucky my mom is awesome! I read your comment aloud to her, lol! I can't wait to share wedding pics! You have no idea how much I'd love to post the pictures from the store of me trying on the dress but I have a pretty good feeling Jason would see them, lol! Can't have that yet! :)
    Loves to you!

  12. Hi Isabelle! Thank you so much! I will definitely share pictures of the dress after the wedding day. I want my fiance to be surprised when he first sees me in it, so I'm saving that special moment for April 26th! Happy Sunday to you, and thank you so much for stopping by and commenting! :)

  13. OMG!!! You are totally and utter freaking HILARITY! An expansion project!!!!!!! I actually LOL-ed! You are the BEST! I know, right - sometimes no amount of preparation can prevent surprises like these! I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this crazy experience!

Oh lovely, I too hope you can sample some Dior soon! I highly HIGHLY recommend this line of lipsticks. They are beautiful inside and out, and definitely something that can be used to the last drop!

  14. AW! Thank you so much, Melissa! :D I cannot wait to share dress pictures after the wedding day! I wanted to share pictures from the trying on process in the shop but I don't want Jason to see them until 4/26! And the lipstick is buttery grooviness. Definitely what you expect from a high-end brand! I love it when my expectations are exceeded like that!

  15. I love that idea! I love the vow renewal thing. Would you and your husband of 7+ years ever do a renewal? And thank you! I would hate for anyone to think I'm a spoiled brat or a diva! That is always high on my list of things I try to avoid!

  16. Thanks, Charlotte! It is a beautiful pink that would be flattering across so many different skin tones! Happy Sunday to you! :)

  17. Oh of course, I understand! I wouldn't want my future hubby to see my dress before the wedding either. We'll just have to be patient a little while longer ;-)
