I figured since I've almost completely used up a bottle of the Garnier Clean+ Nourishing Cleansing Oil and plan to repurchase it, it's high time I share it's wonderousness with all of you!
This cleansing oil is housed in a clear plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. I love this because you can see exactly how much is left. Anyone else hate opaque mystery bottles where you have no idea how much product remains...until that moment when you're pumping air with flared nostrils? Me too!
I'll admit that I wasn't wowed by this the first time I used it. The next time, I followed the directions to the letter ("Apply 1-2 pumps to fingertips and massage onto dry face...wet face to emulsify oil, then rinse thoroughly.") and it's been true love ever since. I think I used too much water the first time. Now I apply a bitsy little splash and really massage it in, and every ounce of makeup is dissolved.
My new favorite way to use it is to dispense 2 pumps into my hands, quickly massage it all over my face and closed eyelids and then hop into the shower. I wet my hands from the shower stream and rub-a-dub-dub my face for about 20 seconds and then rinse it all off. My skin is left feeling completely clean (no greasy residue) without any tightness. The jojoba and macadamia oils in this cleanser leave my skin feeling soft and velvety smooth.

I'm so pleased with this cleansing oil! It's the first one I've ever used that removes all of my makeup and hasn't caused break outs. Don't be surprised to see this in my next monthly favorites post! :)
COST: Varies by retailer, but Target's offering it for $5.99 USD, which was the best price I found.
How do you remove your makeup? What's your favorite Garnier product?
Yay for budget-friendly cleansing oil! I am not that big on cleansing oils myself. I am more of a cleansing balm person. The Clinique one is my FAVORITE for removing makeup. It's very straightforward and effective. I think my preferences stem from the fact that cleansing balms are more mess-free (they won't drip), and also I've never felt any cleansing oils to be particularly nourishing, but I know some go for the squeaky clean feeling!
ReplyDeleteI don't pay much attention to Garnier, for some reason. My favourite budget cleanser has to be by Biore. It's a drugstore Japanese brand which has a lot of good stuff. I usually alternate my Biore with Bobbi Brown Extra Rinse Balm and Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm. I love cleansing balms and oils!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome :-O Gotta keep my eyes open for this one, thanks for the review! And yeah, that moment when you're pumping air with flared nostrils, I so know how that feels. Terrifying! That's why I always have a bazzilion backups in stock :-S
ReplyDeletelove this stuff!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so nice, I love a good budget skincare product. It's a shame it's not available in the UK yet... fingers crossed!

Sounds like good stuff! I love cleansing oils in the winter a lot. Makes skin feel so soft and clean!
ReplyDeleteI love this cleansing oil, have been using it for almost a year! The only thing I don't like about it is that it's leaking.
ReplyDeleteYou bet I'll be trying this one after I finish with my err... 3 other bottles of cleansing oil and a giant tub of cleansing balm. LOL. Thanks for the thorough review and pix, Kristen!!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of scratching my head at why I haven't tried this yet! It sounds fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely pick it up, Amber! It's seriously wonderful, and budget-friendly, too! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Sounds like you have a ways to go before you're shopping for a new cleanser, ha! This one is seriously SO nice. Blows away every other one I've tried, including pricer versions.
ReplyDeleteAGATA! Yay, thanks for stopping by! Ok, so it's not just my bottle that's leaking. I didn't mention it because I thought it might be a one off! However, if that's my only negative, I'm still extra happy with it, lol!
ReplyDeleteTruth! I love the way this leaves my skin feeling!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I love it when a drugstore product outperforms it's high society sisters. Fingers crossed it hits UK shelves ASAP! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, Elle-approved! That's always a good sign! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Right?! I somehow knew you'd relate to that comment when I was typing it! That's definitely smart to have backups when you don't know how much product you have left. This is a fantastic cleansing oil, definitely look for it the next time you're out n' about!
ReplyDeleteHey, we have Biore here! I might have to try something from them b/c my new serum and moisturizer is wreaking absolute havoc on my skin. BOO! I have to say, I've yet to be disappointed with anything I've tried from Garnier. Their eye roller concealer got more love form me this summer than my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried a cleansing balm but it sounds delightful. I found cleansing oils messy until I got the hang of them and now I don't think it's any messier than a regular foaming cleanser. I totally hear you on the lack of nourishing point about cleansing oils. The first one I ever tried was from the Josie Maran Argan Oil line and my skin was dry to cracking levels after I used it! Not exactly what I had in mind. This Garnier beauty leaves my skin feeling like velvet.
ReplyDeleteThat's ridiculous! Josie Maran doesn't even come cheap :p
ReplyDeleteThis is the same way I love to use cleansing oils! I have tried this too and it's right up there with my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteNext on my list to try is The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil too, have you tried that one?
Corinne
I have never used a cleansing oil, because I'm always so afraid it won't get the job done. Maybe it's the inner-cosmo, but I associate oils with moisture and don't think moisture is a cleanser.. But the way you explain this makes me want to try a cleansing oil, for the first time in Stephanie history!! I can tell it gets the job done from your photos... And how about the fact that you've made it through almost all of the bottle already?? Thank you for sharing this! Does the job and budget-friendly!!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,

I've tried a few oil cleansers and now I'm using a Shu Uemura. This will be next! How do you think Garnier's texture/scent compares to others you've tried?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this worked out for you...it was a mess on my oily skin. I felt like it didn't cleanse my face right...I totally wanted to love this. :(
ReplyDeleteYES! It's SMART. Not obsessive or compulsive like my fiancé says >.>
ReplyDeleteI've moved on from oil cleansers - I finished up bottles of Shu but found them non-sustainable $$$ so I tried a cheaper alternative. Made a wrong choice and I broke out in fits! Still have blemishes and battle scars left from the outbreak so I'm swearing off oil cleansers for now. Micellar water + biphase eye makeup remover are my bffs now. :( We have Garnier here but I think we don't have this one. I should've gone with this!
ReplyDeletethat lip color is gorgeous! So happy this product worked for you, makes me want to try it again
ReplyDeleteI am glad this works for you! I am using the one from MAC, which is the Cleanse Off Oil. Same routine: 2 pumps > massage > little water > then massage again > rinse off. Heehee. I have never tried using it as a brush cleanser though! Me gonna try that soon!
ReplyDeleteImportant question: What's the shade of the MAC lipstick?
Take care, Kristen!!! <3
Yay glad you love this too. Ive been using it for a while now and really love it. What a steal at that price I tell ya!! I ddidnt find any big difference between this and the shiseido cleansing oil. I will definitely be repurchasing this one:) I have quite a bit of my brush cleanser left right now but thats a neat tip! While I'm on the topic, a really cool trick for instant cleaning of makeup brushes..esp . eye makeup brushes is what I learned form Wayne Goss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WS8mKvqor0 . I just bought a cheap sponge from the dollarstore and it works wonders girlfriend!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried that one from TBS but it's on my radar. I'd love to know what you think of it if you pick it up, Corinne! :)
ReplyDeleteOh gurl, it DEF gets the job done! For me it removes makeup better than any other method. I'm so excited that you might give it a whirl! It literally removes mate red lipstick in a single pass. I am amazed! Mucho love burgers!
ReplyDeleteI notice no scent with the Garnier, Liz, and the texture is smooth and creamy. I've never tried a Shu cleansing oil but they've been on my mental wish list. The Garnier has been the clear winner over Josie Maran (literally dried my skin out so much it was painful) and one from One Love Organics (that is wholly beloved in the beauty community but I had a violent round of break outs from).
ReplyDeleteOne man's trash is another man's treasure, lol! What cleansing oils have worked well for you, Lily?
ReplyDeleteYes, I've wanted to try a Shu but the money is kind of LIKE WHOA. I had a similar thing happen with another cleansing oil (breakouts for weeks and months of skin recovery) so I get your hesitation to head back down that road! I wish Micellar water would catch on more here; they're still very hard to find and have to be purchased almost exclusively online and shipped over from the eastern half of the world! It's crazy!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hannah! It's MAC Hot Tahiti. It's such a cool shade because it looks so different on everyone!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laarni! It's MAC Hot Tahiti! I love that lipstick! I tried the MAC Cleanse Off Oil years ago and wasn't mad for it. However, I now totally realize I was using it completely WRONG - I was slapping it on in the shower, standing on the stream of water and wondering why my makeup wasn't melting right off. Doy. I clearly wasn't into reading directions at that time. I definitely want to try the MAC oil again, especially since they offer it in travel size! I wish every product in the world came in travel size so you could test drive it before committing to a full size!
ReplyDeleteXOXO :)
I'm glad you love this Garnier beauty, too! I can't get over how great it is for such a hugely low price. OMG, I LOVE Wayne Goss!! He is so feisty and fun - and knowledgeable! I must get one of these sponges because HELLO EASY LIVIN'! Thanks, Dee!
ReplyDeleteLOL! You are hilarious, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sunny! My thoughts exactly!! :O
ReplyDeleteYay so glad this product worked out for you!! I'm always nervous about trying oils on my face, nervous it will break me out! What skin type are you??
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristen - good to know! I didn't get along JM argan oil so I'm definitely not going to try any of her face products.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! Trying out new skincare of any kind is a little scary. I'm recovering from a new routine as we speak that caused massive itching and break outs! :\ I'm combination: oily t-zone, dry cheeks! What about you?
ReplyDeleteMe either! It made my face explode in a most unflattering way (as opposed to a flattering face explosion...). I ended up mixing it into my body lotion during the winter so it wasn't a total loss of $$$!
ReplyDeleteOk this was an awesome post for me to find, bc I just used the last of my pricey Josie Maran cleansing oil and wasn't jazzed about spending that much for another bottle! So now I have a low priced option - woot woot!! On a totally unrelated note- ever since you asked about my Disqus adding back to my site to make commenting easier, I've been working feverishly but for some reason with my new web design - it's becoming a royal PITA (pain-in-the-ass)!! I'm hoping to get the issue resolved real soon, but it's slow going right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you were finally able to get Disqus back up n' running! It sounds like it was a total nightmare, though! This Garnier Cleansing Oil is really a winner. I picked up a mini MAC Tranquil Cleanse-Off Oil and it's not as good as the Garnier, plus it's much more $! I am definitely going back to the Garnier once I use up the MAC!
