Loves & Lemons | January 2015

I skipped out on Loves & Lemons last month since I felt it would be favorites overkill with my Best of 2014 series coming out at the end of December.  That being said, I'm excited to share my loves (no lemons!) with you guys after my little hiatus!  Grab yourself a Matcha Green Tea Latte (delicious recipe courtesy of Rebecca Lately) and let's rock n' roll!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Build Your Own Contour Palette, $40.00 USD.  I posted a full review this week so I don't want to talk about it too much again here but WOW.  These powders are incredible!  Contouring is unbelievably easy once you have the right tools!  I am living for Fawn as my cheekbone contour, and Banana under the eyes sets my concealer and makes me look alive.  I've used this palette every day since I got it! | FULL REVIEW HERE.

Bath & Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel Shower Gel, $12.50 USD.  A shower bursting with the delicious aroma of fresh baked vanilla cupcakes?  Yes, please! | FULL REVIEW HERE.

The Body Shop Papaya and Vitamin E Body Butters, $20.00 USD each for 6.75 oz.  These thick, nourishing butters have been keeping my chapped skin at bay this month.  My skin feels calmed and moisturized from shower to shower. Vitamin E was a gift from Stephanie Eva, who just so happened to see it on my Beauty Wish List Pinterest board!  How cool is that?!  It has a powdery floral scent and the pink tub appeals to my girly side.  The Papaya is LE (get it while it's hot!) and smells lush and tropical.  After this and the Supergoop! Acai Fusion Lip Balm, I think "tropical fruit" is my favorite scent in the world.  Give me all of the papayas and passion fruits!

L'Oreal Glossy Balm in Lovely Mocha, $7.99 USD.  Hydration and beautiful color payoff have made this lipstick/lip balm hybrid a purse staple. | FULL REVIEW HERE.

MAC Paint Pots in Groundwork and Constructivist, $21.00 USD each.  These just make my life easier.  Dab them onto your lids and smooth them out with your fingers and you're done!  They also layer wonderfully under powder shadows to boost color and longevity.  There's a reason Paint Pots are cult classics!

No lemons this month!  Wha-what?!  Believe it or not, nothing irked me or under-performed.  YAY!

What were some of your favorites that kicked off the new year?

  1. Aah the contour palette!! I definitely need to get my hands on it! I the TBS body butters are classic! I haven't tried the Vit E range as I love to have a ton of fragrance in body products! Will check it out! :-)

  2. I'd like to buy more MAC paint pots this year! Groundwork, Constructivist, Rubenesque and Soft Ochre have been on my wishlist. No lemons, huh? That's good! hihihi \m/ \m/

  3. I need more Paint Pots too. I only have two that were a LE. But I need a neutral color for sure!

  4. Wahoo!! So glad that Vitamin E is not a LEMON !!!! Haha! I love papaya, man!! To eat OR to sniff.. I've never tried a paint pot. I have a problem and maybe you could help me out with this; oily lids... I has 'em. I've tried a few things with the paint-potty-consistancy (lolz potty) and everything creases! Do these stay like UD Primer? That is it ONLY product on earth that I have found to prevent my makeup from creasing UP TO 48 hrs.... :O If paint pots can do that, I'm dropping everything and heading to MAC in Macy's like, right nah. Because constructivist looks too pretty for me to comprehend. Do you know how they compare to the Color Tattoos? I haven't used a color tattoo in a while and I currently do not know where mine are.. Hahah! Oh my gosh sorry for all the Q balls!
Glad there were no lemons! it's nice to have a month like that!!

    Much LOVE and chick chicks!

  5. No lemons? Nice! Those body butters sound pretty nice. Some of my favorite TBS body butters are the Honey Mania one, the shea one and the vanilla one from this year's holiday collection.

  6. I picked up one of those balms the other day. I haven't used it other than a quick swatch on the back of my hand. I love vanilla bean noel! (:

  8. Ha ha! No lemons! YAY! Oh girl, Honeymania is everything. I have the shower gel, the butter, a travel butter, and the fragrance! It is such a beautiful scent!

  9. Rubenesque has been on my wish list for years! They just make for such an easy eye look! And yes! So happy this month was lemon-free, LOL! :D

  10. Painterly or Groundwork would probably be your best bets; Painterly is more pink-toned and Groundwork is brown-toned. Groundwork is honestly the exact color of the shadow in my crease without makeup - it's really a nice subtle color on me, but I know it looks more brown on people who are fairer. Paint Pots are so great for swipe n' go eyes!

  11. Ha ha! Yes, no lemon action on the Vitamin E butter, my friend! <3 Thank you again for the lovely surprise! You are so thoughtful!

Ah yes, oily lids. I'm quite familiar with this issue! I'd say the MAC Paint Pots work very similar to Maybelline Color Tatts. The Paint Pots work very well for me personally, but with the caveat that they work a LOT better when the weather is cold and dry and my lids aren't as oily as they are in the middle of summer. However, the 100% best, top of the pops, better than UDPP (of which I was a years-long user/lover), Lorac Behind the Scenes Primer, and Too Faced Shadow Insurance, is NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. I will re-purchase it for eternity. If I really want my eyeshadows to pop (there is a huge difference between the primers I mentioned above which I really didn't notice much until I read Jaa's primer comparison post with side by side swatches - my mind was blown over the difference in vibrancy! http://www.hellojaa.com/reviews/mac-prep-prime-24-hour-extended-eye-base/) AND stay 100% crease-free and flawless for days, I use the NARS. If I want an easy eye in the fall/winter, I slap on a MAC Paint Pot or Maybelline Color Tattoo and head out. I met some friends for dinner at 7:30 p.m. and one of them thought I went home after work and re-did my eyeshadow - I didn't, it was my 7 a.m. eye creation, but she couldn't believe it still looked that good 12 hours later. It was all due to the NARS! So in short (HA HAAAA!), NARS SPEB is the top banana of longevity and color payoff! LOL at q-balls! YAS! Q-tips! ;)

    Love and chicken cacciatore!

  12. Constructivist is my all time favourite MAC paint pot. Mine dried out after a few years and I didn't repurchase it. I promised myself not to buy anymore cream products because I don't use them all the time, and their shelf life is just too short.

  13. WHAT?!?! NARS HAS A PRIMER!?!?! LLOLOLOL I'm like in the stone ages right nah. Thank you for the like to Jaa. I'm going to check that out because seriously, I need to see these things. AND that testimonial about your 7am eye is a true winner! Thank you so much for the information/recommendation. I'm going to see what's GOOD PLAYAH (Hi, my name is Stephanie and I'm white)......

    MUCH LOVE CHICKFACE

  14. TBS body butters are the best, they last longer than I think they will too! Constructivist looks so beautiful. And yay for no lemons, always great when that happens! :)

  15. I just started working my way through TBS Fijian Water Lily Body Butter. There is nothing wrong with the smell, but it is not the one for me. Hate when that happens! The Vitamin E version is waiting in my cabinet, hoping to replace Water Lily.

  16. Thanks for the matcha latte recipe! I've pinned it to my matcha madness board!

  17. Surprisingly the only Mac Paint Pot I've tried is Rubenques which really isn't an everyday kind of shade. Constructivist look great though!

  18. Yeah, if you don't use something, there's no point in re-stocking! I've been using creme shadows all fall and winter but rarely used them before! Now it seems weird if I don't use one as a base at least.

  19. TBS body butters do last SO long! I just love them. I don't think I could survive fall and winter without them, lol! And yes! No lemons = :D

  20. Oh that stinks about the TBS Fijian Water Lily not being the scent for you! It takes so long to use up a full-sized body butter pot, too. I wish you luck getting through that one and hope the Vitamin E one floats your boat! :)

  21. LOL, Jaa!! Ha ha! I love you for looking forward to the lemons! You'll be excited for February's post b/c I already have one lemon! I'm glad you're pulling out the ABH contour palette! Fawn for life! ;)

  22. Rubenesque is on my wish list, Xuvious! Constructivist is lovely and such a good base for brown smoky eyes!

  23. You're welcome, Vita! It's become an almost daily beverage for me, lol! I love that you have a matcha madness board! You're awesome.

  24. Wooo! No lemons! Hehe! Love Vanilla Bean Noel, smells so yummy! <3

  25. Me too! Vanilla Bean Noel smells so ridiculously good. I have 2 backups of the shower gel and 1 candle! That way, when I start missing it sometime in the middle of summer, I can break it out, LOL!
