Loves & Lemons | March 2015

Hi lovelies!  Today's the last day of March, and I couldn't be more ready for warmer temps, cherry blossoms bursting to life, and all of the spring things.  Plus, I'm excited for April 26th as it will be our first wedding anniversary!  I can't believe it's almost been a year!  To celebrate the end of March, it's Loves & Lemons time!
Chanel Glossimer 179 Murmure: What a gem this is!  It's a soft coral pink creme (no shimmer) that feels ultra hydrating on the lips.  Very close to the feel of a lip balm.  I see why non-sticky gloss lovers go bananas over Glossimers!  Murmure gives my lips a healthy, rosy look.

Clinique Extra Mild Facial Soap: I used Clinique bar soap as a teenager and on into my young twenty-something days.  After playing face cleanser beach blanket bingo for several years, I decided to go back "home" to Clinique and I couldn't be happier about that decision.  I've only had a couple of breakouts in the 2 months that I've been using this, versus the handful of cystic breakouts I was experiencing every other week before.  Also, can we talk about how incredible it is that this baby is only $13 bucks?!  The Extra Mild is perfect for me as it leaves my face feeling clean and balanced without being tight.

Lancome Trésor Eau de Parfum: Reviewed.  When I corralled my Loves for this month and photographed them, I later realized Trésor was a February Love!  I decided not to swap it out for something else since the duplication happened organically.  Trésor's two month reign is a testament to how much I love this scent!

MAC Viva Glam V (Lustre): This shimmering peachy pink has just enough of a hint of brown to make it a "throw and go" shade for me.  You guys know I live for fuss-free lipstick application, so the sheerness and slip of MAC Lustres are my absolute favorite.

NARS Angelika Lip Gloss: This non-sticky, blue-based pink gloss contains micro shimmer, yet is so comfortable to wear.  It's one of my favorite shimmery glosses because I don't feel the glitter grit (gritter?) once it's on my lips.  The blue pink color makes my face look instantly more alive.

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado: This has a strange texture to me; it smoothes on nicely at first but then gets squeaky as you work it in.  I've never experienced anything like it.  I also think it smells a little synthetic.  I used this religiously for over a month and didn't notice any change to the skin around my eyes.

Did you have any loves or lemons in March?  What lipstick or gloss did you wear the most?

  1. Oh oh oh! I was looking for a new eye cream and went to check out this Kiehl's and the SA was all like, "NOOOOO" when I rubbed the cream onto the back of my hand because you have to ONLY PAT IT. Otherwise it melts off funny and you don't get any of the benefits or something. What a dumb cream. I just walked out, lol.

  2. Oh oh oh so I have the same issue with the Kiehl's eye cream! I asked for a sample sachet because I read good things about it. I am fine with the (albeit EXTREMELY THICK and a little waxy) texture and the smell, since I only used it at night. However, it didn't seem to do anything phenomenal for my eyes so I was like... why bother!

  3. I've been paying attention to Chanel things in March, I think. Luckily I like everything so far.
Chanel must have reformulated Glossimmer a long time ago. When I tried a mini set (that was a decade ago), it was a sticky mess. Murmure is so soft and lovely (an apt name for the color, too).

  4. Hi Kristen, my wedding anniversary is 2 days before years. We will be celebrating 5 years already, time flies!

I agree with you on Angelika, it's one of my favorite glosses too and I like how long it lasts on me. That Murmure gloss looks really pretty, I have never had any lip products from Chanel!

I don't think there has been one particular lipstick I have worn a lot, I like to switch things up a little bit but with the spring hopefully coming to a full effect soon, I am looking forward to wearing more coral and peach lippies.

  5. Aww that's too bad about the Kiehl's cream. I have very little experience with the brand though (I'm a Clarins/Vichy girl). I LOVE Viva Glam V, it's so gorgeous and wearable everyday.

    Happy almost anniversary!

  6. It's a bit too soon to tell, but I think my Lemon of the month is the Jordana Cranberry crush blame stain. I'm really into balm stains lately, and I fell in love with the color. Sadly it seems to flake in under an hour. Strange for a balm.

A product I am LOVING and purchased about 5 of them, are the Wet n Wild Megaslicks. Seriously, you need to try these! They are so hydrating, pigmented, and stay on for an insanely long time. For a Wet n Wild product, I am so impressed!

  7. I wore sheer/jelly lipsticks and glosses a lot this month, too! Just seems like the perfect season for it. The cherry blossoms have bloomed here - it's always nice to see. Just really uplifting after a dreary winter season!

  8. LOVE VG5! One of my faves! I think it's such an easy lipstick to wear. Never tried that eye cream, as I'm an Avene and Vichy person most of the time when it comes to skincare.

  9. WOOOO for Loves & Lemons but more WOOOO for your FIRST WEDDING anniversary! You guys are too cool. Wishes for many more amazing years to come!

I love the name "Glossimer". I feel like you've invented it. Just a fun title. Like, let me get my Glossimer, Mortimer. Murmure sure does look like a great shade, sounds/looks like somethings I'd be all over for a light makeup look! Or if I just wasn't feeling a heavy lip.
Yay for no "gritter" either, hhaha. See... This is why I'm still not totally convinced you didn't named the Glossimer's...

    Much Love!!

  10. "What a dumb cream. I just walked out" - I love you, Liz!!! Cracking UP! Who has time for rules when it comes to eye cream?? I did pat it in numerous times, for the record, and it still got weird. And secondly, why would any moisturizer work differently if it were patted versus rubbed?!? Someone give me the science on this! Where is Jaa or Laari with their science?! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  11. What?!?! This is nuts! Liz said she was instructed by the SA not to rub it, only pat it?!?! Waxy is a good descriptor. I guess it works well for some people since it's one of their top sellers, but I noticed nothing. Kind of glad to know I'm not alone in my experience! LOL at "why bother" - truth!

  12. I kind of feel like Chanel always dominates the spring releases! Their colors are always such a breath of fresh air and somehow scream happiness in a subtle and chipper way! I had a very old Glossimer and it was tacky; Murmure is smoother than a polar bear's nose. ;)

  13. Ah! That is so cool about your wedding anniversary being 2 days before ours! HAPPY almost FIVE YEARS! Woohoo! :) I actually wanted to get married on April 24th (May 24 is my birthday and 24 is my lucky number) but we didn't think people would be thrilled with us for having a wedding on a Thursday afternoon, lol!

Angelika is a beaut! I could see it working so nicely on you! I bet it would be gold paired with UD Sheer Obsessed! Girl, you should treat yourself to a Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick. The packaging is simply genius (it's like a secret! Click it to reveal the tube; very James Bond) and the formula is beyond lovely!

I'd love to know your favorite peach and coral lippies!

  14. Yes!! I just started using Vichy Aqualia Serum and WOWWWWWSERS. I'm amazed! Vichy wasn't super accessible here until recently, and I'm so happy to see it. I know it's mega popular with the Canadian chicks, and clearly, for good reason! ;) Thank you for the anniversary dap!

  15. Agreed on the jelly lipsticks/glosses! And the cheery blossoms! There's something almost otherworldly about seeing their blossoms floating through the air. Like flower snow!

  16. Oh yas, honey, I could see VG5 looking amazeballs on you, T-Money! Vichy just became more accessible here and I picked up the Aqualia Serum. My socks have been knocked off by it! Can't wait to try more from them!

  17. RIGHT???!!! MY HG Serum! I'm so happy you can get it now! I always bring Marky a couple of bottles when I visit-she can't live in California without it! Can hardly wait for your review!

  18. Thank you so much, Stephanka! Can't believe it's already almost been a year! Gosh, I remember how stressed out I was last year at this time, and then everything was wonderful and magical and I had the best day ever. I will always remember that day as one of the best of my life!

I love the name Glossimer, too! It's like something from the mind of Jm Henson! Ha! I wish I'd thought of Glossimer! You know Chanel would be impressed with "gritter", lolol!

  19. Aw, thanks! I put some on Jason tonight as a test, lol! He has this awesome hardy olive skin that never needs a moisturizer (queue Rod Stewart's "Some Guys Have All the Luck") and it sank right in and he loved it! Oh my lord, I'm sure Marky feels so lucky to have a mom who swings into dry California (pronounced cal-i-FOR-NY-AY) packin' bottles of HG Vichy Serum delights!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hahaha that's amazing! I'm glad Jason loved it. They have these two new GUY moisturizers though-I need to blog about them. One is for guys that like a bit of a beard, and one is geared for guys who shave every day. It's really cool-each one addresses the skincare needs of both kinds of guy faces! Terry loves them.
Yeah, she's pretty thankful! I have to help my Marky out! She's my world!

  21. I wanted to try that Kiehl's eye cream! Maybe I shouldn't...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Too bad about the Kiehl's eye cream. But I'm loving yer loves! Great taste in lippies, girl :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yes! Exactly like flower snow - totally beautiful. And then a mess, LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I used a kiehl's eye cream for a while too, no effect at all! Viva Glam 5 is such a frustrating shade, seems to look great on everyone but me

    ReplyDelete
  25. Angelika looks amazing! I'm looking for a new eye cream and Kiehl's was on top of my list but the texture doesn't sound great.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Some people love the Kiehl's! If you can try a sample first, I'd say go that route so you can try before you buy. Angelika is a beaut! Would love to see how it looks on your gorgeous skin!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Aw, I'm sorry VG5 is your trouble shade! Mine's Creme Cup. It looks like ballet pink perfection in the tube, but on me? Undead Fred. Glad I'm not the only one who wasn't raising the roof over the Kiehl's eye cream! I want to see some results, even if they're subtle! Give me some hope, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thank you! Back at you on the lipstick taste! Imagine if we were neighbors - we could double our lipstick favorites immediately, lol!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely try a sample if you can. If you love it go for the pot, if not, nothing lost! I wish One Love Organics shipped worldwide b/c their Vitamin E Eye Balm is still my HG. That tiny tub shrank bags and puffs, hydrated, I saw an actual reduction in fine lines, and it lasted a year and I think 4 months?!? It was insanity.

  30. The Chanel gloss sounds like one I would love!!!!! Will deff have to look at them soon. To bad the Kiels didn't work out though. Their products are usually so good!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh yes, Julie! You would LOVE a Chanel Glossimer! It's gel-like, non-sticky, and not crazy pigmented! Right up your alley! :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks, Sam! So happy to see you here again and on your blog! :) Which Clinique eye cream did you use? I'm in the market once again, so I'm curious! VGV is awesome! Easily my favorite of the entire Viva Glam range!

  33. Did the Jordana Cranberry Crush stain end up being your March lemon? Flaking is never good! Ooh, Wet n' Wild Megaslicks are REALLY good! Which one is your top favorite?

    ReplyDelete
  34. My top Mega Slick is Made you Pink. I can't get enough of that color! It's perfect for Spring and works really nicely with my fair complexion. Pink hues are either hit or miss for me.

After playing around with the Jordana balm satin, I can say it isn't 100% a lemon. For me it's not moisturizing enough. If I prep my lips ahead of time they are fine, but the transfer kills! I can get a solid 6 hours with zero transfer onto my coffee cup or water bottle using Megaslicks. Jordana transfers every single time. I won't be purchasing anymore, but it isn't terrible.
