Review! | Essie Splash of Grenadine

I'm having a lavender and lilac moment.  I can't pinpoint the exact point of origin that started this purple haze craze for me, but MAC Lavender Jade lipstick (from the Bao Bao Wan collection), Clinique Pansy Pop Cheek Pop Blush, and NARS Années Folles Larger Than Life Lipgloss were 3 of the first beauties that had tiny (lilac) hearts floating above my head.
After seeing Xuvious' post in February of Essie Splash of Grenadine, I knew I had to track down a bottle.  My mom first discovered Splash of Grenadine last year, but we had a hard time finding it for sale.  I was able to find it on Ulta's website and quickly ordered 2; one for me, one for mom!
This cheerful lavender cream will be spending a lot of time on my tips and toes this spring and summer!  Splash of Grenadine is the perfect mix of pink and purple, and I'm able to get fully opaque color in two coats.

What's on your nails right now?
What was your last color addiction?

  1. I cannot tell you how MANY times I've nearly bought this polish! I've literally had the bottle in the palm of my hand! I'm in the mood for a polish purchase so I might just go ahead and buy some because I have such a weakness for this colour and it's so flattering!

Please, tell me you have Playdate from Essie- it's my all time favorite lilac purple.

  12. I went through a dusty blue phase myself a few years ago, Kiki! I had every dusty blue I could find! It's such a fun color. Splash of Grenadine is one of the only colors I like equally on my toes and hands. Usually I have to go darker on the toes b/c lighter colors make my feet look red (to me)! No likey! Splash is perfect!

  18. I have this one! It looks perfect on you!
When it came out as a part of a summer collection, I bought the whole set. One of the best color selections from Essie, in my opinion. :)

  20. Ironically I painted my toes pale pink last week and I cannot stand it. It's too fleshy against my pale skin. I cannot wait to change it to something more bold. What was I thinking? lol

  21. Gurl frand you know I'm on that lilac/lavender tip with you! This is a gorgeous color, your nails look great in the photos! I'm planning on grabbing NYX's lavender lipstick to fill Coven's void... Still on the hunt for a lilac bag, although I've always wanted a super matte-black one... That is my other color addiction for life; matte black... But LILAC right now is killing me.

    Much LOVE!

  24. Thanks, Lena! I agree, this whole set is perfection. LOL, I hope your super dark nails help flick the NYC weather fright train back to November where it belongs! My friend is getting married in Brooklyn (where she lives) this August and I'm so excited to visit NY for the first time! Any must do's for a first timer? My husband is originally from NY (Albany, though, not NYC) but he's only been to the city a handful of times. So excited!

  25. Kiki! I am cosigning this whole pale pink toe nail comment! I always think it's going to look so good and it just looks AWFUL against my skin! It brings out skin redness I never knew was there and makes my feet look janky! Bold toenails all the way!

  26. That's exciting! If in Brooklyn, definitely check out Williamsburg and some food fairs. Downtown NY near Freedom Tower and Brookfield Place on the water front would be easy to access from Brooklyn, too. You might want to take a short cruise (no more than 45 minutes, which is unnecessary and boring, imo). And museums! :)
