Archie's Girl's: Collection has been posted!

MAC Archie's Girls is ONLINE NOW for sale!  If there's anything you've had your eye on from the collection, go get it now because it's definitely going to sell out!

Thanks to Christine at Temptalia for keeping us posted on this collection for the last 3 days and letting everyone vent today about how slow MAC was to post it!  I was almost ready to give up on my dream of owning the brush set (white handles covered in hearts?  Yes, please!) and a few other pieces, but when it was finally posted and I was able to get everything I'd added to mental wish list, the wait was worth it!  I hope you guys get everything you want!  ♥♥♥

REVIEW! | Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer + Treatment

Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer + Treatment #50 Neutralizer
Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer + Treatment (whew! Say that 3 times fast!) in #50 Neutralizer is a cream concealer that dries down to a matte finish and stays put all day.  The product is dispensed through a sponge-tipped applicator and this is what seems to polarize people; they either love it or loathe it.  I personally LOVE it!  Sure, you have to crank it approximately 387 times the first time you use it to get the product to finally emerge victoriously from the sponge, but after that, a crank or 2 every couple of days and you're golden.  I've been using this product every day for the past several weeks and I've had it crease in the late afternoons a few times by the outer corners of my eyes when my skin has been slightly oiler.  I apply it directly to my face, smooth it out with my fingers, and voila: "What dark circles?  I got 10 hours of restorative, peaceful sleep last night!"

For me, this product is wonderful.  The sponge-tip really allows the product to smooth onto the skin easily and blending is a dream.  I can really tell the difference in photographs when I'm wearing it; my skin looks very even and my eyes bright, even after nights when I've only clocked 4 hours of sleep.  I liked this product so much, I bought one for my mom.  She's been using it for about a week and said she loves it!

The sponge-tipped applicator seems to draw ire from some, but I've had zero problems with it and the product itself is excellent.  This product has completely replaced my MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter  which has been my go-to under eye product for about a year.  The MAC product retails for $24.00 while the Maybelline concealer is $9.99; that's $14.00 in savings every time I repurchase.  Yay!

REVIEW! | NARS Sheer Lipstick in Love Devotion

NARS Sheer Lipstick in Love Devotion
NARS Sheer Lipstick in Love Devotion is described by the brand as a "sheer guava".  When I spotted it over the summer at Sephora, I trotted over to swatch it on my hand because the color was so vivid!  Much to my surprise, it was a sheer wash of light orange, not the blast of tangerine scream I was expecting!

NARS Love Devotion is basically a tinted lip balm.  Oh, but it's so much more fun than that!  It's a great sheer pop of orange that glides on weightlessly and feels decidedly balm-y on the lips.  On me, it lasts about 3 hours before the color and shine have faded and require another swipe from the tube.  It's VERY comfortable to wear, and because the color is so sheer, it makes for foolproof on-the-go application sans mirror.  I am a big fan of sheer lip products in general because I find true lipsticks a bit drying and hard to slap on without worrying about precision.

NARS packaging is the BEST.  It's rubberized which makes for easy handling and better shock absorption should you accidentally drop it.  It's also sleek so it fits nicely into pockets, purses, and vanities.  I don't normally get that excited about packaging, but NARS' is hands-down la bamba

NARS Love Devotion is a "gateway orange".  It's a great way to test drive an orange lip without going full-on Jessica Alba at the Golden Globes before you're ready to take on tangerine!

REVIEW! | Milani Baked Blush #05 Luminoso

Milani Baked Blush #05 Luminoso
Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso is a lovely peachy pink blush with shimmer.  I saw this beauty at CVS and it was in the bag before you could say "abracadabra".  It's so hard to get the swatches to show off just how pretty this color is in person!  It adds a bit of subtle shimmer to the cheeks and I think the peachy pink shade is universally flattering.  I've been asked if it's a dupe for the much loved NARS Orgasm, and as far as I can tell, Luminoso is more peach and doesn't have as much illuminating shimmer.  If you've tried Orgasm in the past and found it to be a little too pink or a little too glittery, Milani Luminoso might be just the ticket for you.

The color payoff is excellent and it lasts all day without fading or darkening on my normal-to-oily skin.  At $7.99 a pop, it's a steal!

Archie's Girls - Rainy Day

In honor of the MAC Archie's Girls collection (releasing Wednesday), I whipped this up!
Archie's Girls - Rainy Day

REVIEW! | Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss #180 Pink Pop

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss #180 Pink Pop is a blue-based strawberry pink creme.  The formula is little draggy (though not sticky) during application, and the gloss lasts about 3.5 hours.  It goes on sheer but can be built up for more color.  It's a creme formula with no sparkle.  I do find that it gets a little bit tacky when it's almost completely worn off.  The formula is not moisturizing but it's not drying, either.  The packaging is great; small enough to fit in the hip pocket of your jeans and sturdy enough to withstand being tossed haphazardly into your purse.  I think the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss line is one of the absolute BEST drugstore glosses, and I definitely think it holds it's own against higher-priced department store formulas.

If you're looking for a nice blue-based pink gloss that will outlast your morning coffee and bring a pretty pop of color to your face, I highly recommend this one.

REVIEW! | OPI Mod About You

OPI Mod About You
OPI Mod About You is a bright, white-based pale pink that leans slightly cool.  I saw a gal getting this shade on her toes when my mom and I were getting pedicures and I had to try it!  I loved it and ended up ordering my own bottle from Amazon that night.

It's absurdly difficult to find a pale pink with true-to-bottle color (without having to apply 47 coats).  I have been trying to find one for months!  It seemed like every time I thought I had a winner, I'd paint 2 millimeters of nail before realizing I'd found yet another super sheer polish with a "whisper" of color.  Not Mod About You, my friends!  Mod About You doesn't whisper: it shouts!  It will punch your sheered out pinks in the mouth and then go buy itself an ice cream cone.  Think of it as the Angelica Pickles of pink nail polishes.

The first coat is a bit streaky, but it's fully opaque after 2 coats.  I didn't have any problems whatsoever with the formula being thick or difficult to apply.

This is one of my new favorites that I know will be in heavy rotation up in this hacienda, much like Flo Rida's "Right Round." :D

1) Current favorite nail polish color? OPI Mod About you!  A gal was getting her nails done next to me and my mom last weekend and her polish was so cute!  It was a bright whitened pink and looked gorgeous next to her cocoa skin.  I asked what the name of the color was and ended up with Mod About you on my toes!

REVIEW! | Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss #044 Sunbaked

When a 90's craving hits and I want nothing more than to spritz on some Tommy Girl and watch Amanda Woodward rule D&D Advertising (and steal Billy away from Allison - not cool...), this lipgloss helps me achieve my 90's zen moment.  Like listening to Cathy Dennis, it brings back those fond memories of a time when everyone was sporting earthy colors like russet blush and pinky brown lips, throwing caution (and warm/cool skin tone guides) to the wind.  Who cares if I was too cool-toned for copper lips?  I bought that Revlon Coffee Bean lipstick and wore it proud while jammin' to Gin Blossoms, Erasure, and Queen Latifa ("U.N.I.T.Yyyyyy!") in my sky blue '89 Camry.  Brandy just wanted to be down, and I just wanted to rock brown lips.  It was a good time.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss in Sunbaked is a muted brown with rosy undertones.  For me, it's a My Lips But Better shade because my lips are pretty pigmented.  Wearing Sunbaked is like wearing a lip foundation, of sorts - it evens out the tone and adds a nice polished shine.

It's 100% non-sticky, which I am a big fan of.  It adds a lot of weightless glossiness to your lips and, depending on how pigmented your natural lip color is, medium color opacity.  On me, it typically wears for about 2.5 hours before I'm ready for a touch-up.  Even when it wears off, it does so evenly so you don't end up with the dreaded circle of color on the outer reaches of your smile AKA "Mr. Bill lips", as they were known in my house growing up.  Because this is more of a gel gloss without shimmer, it's very comfortable to wear (no gritty texture due to microsparkle).  My lips still feel hydrated after wearing this gloss for hours.

Revlon ColorBurst Lipgloss comes in 15 colorful shades.  At their swell price point, you could buy your 2 favorite shades and that Billboard Greatest Hits of 1994 CD you're always eyeing at the checkout for the same cost as 1 MAC Cremesheen Glass.  Revlon continues to flourish under the guidance of Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman.  I'm always excited to see what they come up with next.
