Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

I loved this book and raced through it in about 2 hours. I really enjoyed the author's ability to insert humor and witty commentary into a book about such a serious and heartbreaking topic. I went to Blockbuster today and rented the 2004 movie version; can't wait to see it! I thought the ending was great and I was so relieved when Melinda finally found the courage to speak up about the trauma she had faced alone. This should be mandatory reading for junior high/high school English classes.
