Shades of mauve and plum are always big for Fall. Here are a few items I love that fit the bill!
butter London Toff is a dusty rose rose color that lends a certain sophistication to the nails. It's such a great Fall color that matches anything you might choose to wear. It's subtle and such an opposite to the screamin' neons of summer.
NARS Powder Blush in Sin is a beautiful berry with a smidge of golden sheen that lends a bit of life to your sweet cheeks! I have it in the Sin/Casino Blush/Bronzer Duo, but it's also available individually. This is such a great neutral berry; the coolness of the berry is offset by the warmth of the gold, so it's more universally flattering across skin tones. I find Sin to be pretty pigmented so a little goes a long way, but it's not so overpowering that you have to be cautious not to over apply. NARS blushes are the bomb!
MAC Cremeblend Blush in Brit Wit is a dusty pink mauve that blends into skin fabulously and sets to a natural, shimmer-free finish. Even on my oily summer skin, it holds up all day without fading or sliding. For even better staying power, I like to set it with a dusting of MAC Blushbaby or Prism powder blush. Brit Wit's dusty pink color is perfect for a more subtle cheek, which pairs well with a vampy lip or dramatic eye.
MAC Circa Plum Pigment was a limited edition offering from the 2011 Daphne Guinness collection. While I tried not to include any LE items on this list, Circa Plum was just so lovely and fitting that I just had to mention it! It's a grayish plum with loads of dimension and a nice silky texture. I think it would look gorgeous paired with black liner and lots of volumizing mascara. The darling Tracy at Beauty Reflections was kind enough to send me a pot of Circa Plum after seeing it on one of my Wish List Wednesday posts! You can still find Circa Plum online at places like eBay and, occasionally from a 3rd party seller at Amazon, but you will definitely pay more than the usual MAC price of $21 USD. MAC Pigments are similar to bareMinerals loose glimmer shadows and I'm sure with their extensive shade range, one could definitely find a dupe! If anyone knows of a good dupe from another line, please share in the comments!
L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Saucy Mauve is a creamy, satin finish cool-toned plummy pink. It has a multi-dimensional finish without the gritty feel typically associated with lustre lipsticks. Colour Riche lipsticks are my favorite drugstore lipstick because they seem less drying and the color range is huge (46 shades!). I'd compare the texture of Saucy Mauve to MAC's Satin lipsticks; creamy with a pretty sheen finish.
Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss in Sunbaked is a muted, rosy brown with pink undertones and a medium-to-full coverage glossy finish. It's very comfortable to wear as it's a non-sticky formula and I usually get 2.5-3 hours of wear before it's time to reapply. This color is one of those great understated colors that pairs well with anything you throw at it. Bold, 4-step eyes? Check! Bright blush? Check! Mega bronzer? Check! It's one of those makeup bag staples because it's so compatible with anything you might dream up. If dark vampy lipstick is a bit out of your comfort zone, Sunbaked is a great way to rock a more toned-down but perfectly Fall-appropriate lip color. {Full review here.}
What are some of your Fall faves? I hope you have a mauvelous weekend! ;)
SO pretty! I have the NARS blush in Sin but it's still too hot around here to wear my normal Autumn makeup. That L'Oreal lipstick is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think I've got some new items added to my wishlist - I'm super excited to see what other Fall makeup you have in store for us!! :)
ReplyDeleteSAUCY MAUVE!!!!!!! I have to get that just for the name! and because it looks AMAZING on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention love! I'm glad you're enjoying Circa Plum!
Oh man, all I could think of when I saw the swatches was: meh... Sowwy :-( And it's not that I am not ready for fall, because I think I finally am. But these colors just don't do it for me I guess.
ReplyDeleteYou're definitely a summer color girl and there's nothing wrong with that! :) I think my heart always lies with spring collections; I just love the bright, happy colors and find them easier to wear than the darker fall/winter launches. Though I do love me some holiday collections!
ReplyDeleteRIGHT?! Saucy Mauve is just one of those names that you hope someone will ask you what lipstick you're wearing so you can say it with a Spanish accent! Big hugs to you for the Circa Plum magic! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lauren! :) I really appreciated your empties post! I've been collecting my empty bottles for awhile and your post inspired me to finally sit down today and work on a post! Also, I REALLLY want to try that Bioderma product you mentioned!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah! I can totally relate! It's going to be 90 degrees here today. Which kind of makes me feel strange reading through September issues where they're raving about boots and coats! I am so ready to retire my beat down summer cork wedges but it's not exactly time yet!
