During last week's Urban Decay Naked3 pre-release hysteria, I decided to bust out Naked2. I held off on buying Naked2 for a loooooooong time because I was so happy with the original Naked palette and used it on a near daily basis. I'd been curious about Naked2, but didn't feel the need to add it to my collection until I swatched it at ULTA and swooned over 2 shades: YDK, a cool bronze, and Pistol, a light brownish-gray taupe. Buying just those two individual shades would have cost $36, so I decided to spend the extra money and get the whole palette which included 12 shadows, a double-ended brush, and a lip gloss.
Since I brought it home, I've been pretty devoted to YDK and most of the other shadows have gone unloved. I figured it was high time that I played the proverbial shadow field! Last week I challenged myself to use only Naked2 every morning to create different eye looks. Here's what I came up with!

When I first saw pictures of Naked3, I was really excited because pink-toned shades work best with my skin tone! I signed up (using 2 different email addresses just to be SURE) at Urban Decay's site to be notified when Naked3 was available. I woke up Thursday morning and checked my Instagram feed and there was a comment from Sarah at OneStarryNight alerting me that Naked3 was up on the UD site! I may or may not have run to the computer. :) I was able to purchase Naked3 before it went out of stock and it's set to arrive tomorrow! Sarah, THANK YOU! Because of your awesomeness, I was able to get it! Had I waited to receive the notification email from UD, it would have already been sold out!
What's your favorite shadow combo plate from Naked2? Did you pick up Naked3 before it went out of stock? Are you planning to get it when it's available again?
This was fun! I loved the swatches on the lids. I don't own the palettes but I helped my friend pick between the two and they both swatch so beautifully it's hard to choose! I'm hoping when I get some extra doll-hairs to go back and purchase both, and finally THREE when it comes out!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,

My Naked3 is supposed to arrive on Tuesday and I can't wait. Partly because it looks stunning from the swatches I've seen and partly because I always need to buy complete "sets" lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm just happy I was able to let you know in time, I know how fast UD special products sell out and they take foreverrrrr to restock.
I'm still deciding between Naked 2 (also purchased late in the game) and Naked 3. I think 2 has a slight edge over 3 because *all* of the shades are fantastic for year round. Two of the Naked 3 shades are still giving me a case of the "Hmmmm's" for fall and winter.
ReplyDeleteI have both Naked 1 and 2, and I used Naked1 so much more. Naked2 does have some really good taupes but hate that there Half Baked AGAIN. Naked3 doesn't do much for me... too rosy and pink :-P
ReplyDeleteLOVE. I need to bust out my Nakeds LOL. I want #3 though-I'm in a pink phase now, so it's like it was made for me LOL!!
ReplyDeleteForcing yourself to use only 1 palette for a whole week?! What a great idea!!! :D My favorite has to be Thursday! I love the gold & purple combo. :D MAC Designer Purple happens to be one of my favorite colors as well. :D Good job!!
ReplyDeleteAnd high-five on the NAKED3. ;)
Thanks, Sunny! :) Naked 3 is definitely more pink, but I've relaly been drawn more toward the purples!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Lena! I knew I was in for Naked 3 right away since UD shadows are some of my favorite textures! Let us know if you decide to take the plunge! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephanie Eva! They are seriously ALL good. I think if I had to chose just one, it would still be Naked 1. It's just the most complete - it contains a medium matte brown which the others do not, so I always find myself reaching for N1 because I know I won't need to grab any extra shadows to do a complete look. That sounded really complicated! Think I've had too much egg nog! ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, thank you SO MUCH, Sarah! I would have missed out had it not been for your head's up! You're a peach basket. :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I have a case of the Hmmms myself re: Dust. I'm not sure about that one yet! :) I would still pick #1 because it contains perfect matte brown/taupe transition colors for blending, and Darkhorse is the EASIEST liner and the sparkles never get in my eyes. Which is more than a bonus, lol! (>__<) The look you created with Blackheart was my favorite I've seen so far! Perfecto!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I just can't stop loving Naked 1! So many great matte neutrals for blending! Oh and yes - completely agree. Half Baked....twice? That's not a shadow I really like on me so having 2 isn't super thrilling, lol!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, if you're in Pink Mode, I think 3 should definitely go on your wish list! And yes, I'd love to see what looks you'd create using your Nakeds!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, peaches! :) Designer Purple is awesome, and Lord it Up, one of the other Pearlglides, is an all-time favorite! Using this palette for an entire week really forced me to get creative with it. It was really fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI love wearing snakebite all over the lid with a darker color (busted or snakebite) in the crease with foxy on my browbone. The looks you made are great! YDK is a winner.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry I'm just now seeing your comment, Natalie! I love your Naked 2 combo plate look! Sounds gorgeous! And thank you so much!
