REVIEW! | L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in Light

L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in Light
L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream promises to hydrate, prime, correct, and perfect your skin, according to the brand.  It comes in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Medium, and Deep.  The B.B. cream contains "beautifying beads" that contain "self-adjusting pigments that will blend perfectly into skin."

I didn't realize this was a self-adjusting color product until I opened it up to use it and out of the tube came what looked like white sunscreen.  I had a brief "What the hell?" moment before I blended it out and it turned into a light-medium shade of beige.  I have personally never had any real success with self-adjusting color and typically avoid products that claim to adjust seamlessly to my skin tone.  L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in Light did successfully adjust to a shade close to my ideal color, but it leaned a little orange on me after a few hours of wear.  I used it for several days and I always found it looking a shade too dark on my skin by mid-day.  I'm a MAC NW 20-NW 25, so I figured "Light" would work for me, but I should've bought Fair.  I'd suggest going a shade lighter than you'd normally wear if you're considering Light, Medium, or Deep.

I have pretty normal skin with a slightly oily t-zone, but this B.B. Cream was a too moisturizing for me.  I looked very oily after only a few hours of wear, and I had to bust out the blotting powder several times a day.  My entire face was oily; not just my t-zone.  Also, this B.B. cream does not contain any sunscreen, just as a note-to-self for those considering it.

As with most B.B. creams, the coverage is minimal.  I didn't feel very confident wearing this out n' about because my acne scarring (skin discoloration) showed through loud and clear on the sides of my face.  I have used other B.B. creams that yielded slightly more coverage than this one.

I think if you're a little more tan or yellow-toned than I am and your skin is on the drier side, this could work for you.  If it's foundation-level coverage you're after or you're skin is fair, you may want to skip this product.

My Rating: C
Cost: $10.95 MSRP
Where to Buy: CVS, and most drugstores and big box stores (Target, Walmart, etc.).

  1. Thanks for the review, Kristen. Having oily skin this is one I can put on my "stay away" list. Ü

    1. Precisely!! With skin like ours, this creates an oil slick of epic proportions, lol! To quote Hall & Oates, "I can't go for that - oh no - no can do" :)

  2. Yeah, I hear ya. Most of these self-adjusting products don't self adjust all that well on me either. That being said, I think you look beautiful in your FOTD shot!
