To say I was thrilled when Younique presenter Chelsea Bustamante emailed me to ask if I'd be interested in trying the Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes, $29.00 USD, would be quite the understatement. After seeing countless before and after shots on Instagram and favorable reviews on some of my favorite blogs, including JennySue Makeup, I was itching to try it for myself! I am beyond happy that Chelsea asked me to sample this product because I am truly blown away by it's effectiveness.
If you've been reading the blog for a while now, you know that I have less-than-stellar lashes. They are sparse and invisible, even when I use volumizing mascaras. I figured my sole path to a va-va-voom fringe was false eyelashes. I practiced and practiced, and after even more practice, I did master false lash application and began to enjoy wearing them. My only issue is they can sometimes be a little tricky to apply early in the morning before I'm fully awake and I still feel the need to carry tweezers and a tube of glue with me just in case the lashes start lifting during the day. I know a LOT of people who are completely intimidated by false lashes, or just don't find them comfortable to wear. Why isn't there a mascara that truly mimics the look of falsies without the glue and tweezers routine? Oh wait - THERE IS!
Younique's Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes come in a cute little carrying case similar to the size of a sunglasses case. The system consists of a tube of Transplanting Gel and a tube of Natural Fibers. The 100% natural green tea fibers are pitch black in color, making this product even easier to use than 2-step systems involving a white primer that has to be covered with black mascara.
To prepare your eyelashes for optimal results, first apply one thin coat of your own regular favorite mascara and let it dry. Then, apply Moodstruck Transplanting Gel to your lashes. Immediately following, and while the gel is still wet, apply the Moodstruck Natural Fibers. Reapply the Transplanting Gel a second time to secure the natural fibers onto your lashes.
Chelsea told me she prefers to use the Younique system alone instead of starting with a base layer of her favorite regular mascara. I've tried it both ways and the results for me were the same regardless of whether I started with a coat of regular mascara or just jumped right in with the Younique Transplanting Gel. I did find the Transplanting Gel has a large stopper and therefore the wand comes out practically swimming in gel. I typically wipe the brush along one side of the tube as I pull it out and it removes enough of the gel for my liking. The Transplanting Gel brush is hourglass-shaped (think Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara) and the Natural Fibers brush is skinny and straight (like Kevin Aucoin The Volume Mascara or Maybelline Lash Discovery). The skinny brush is perfect for reaching down to the roots to get the most bang for your buck. The Lashes stay put once applied without flaking or smudging, and they wash off easily with soap and water.

Have you tried Younique's Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes? What was your latest "WOW" product discovery?
Wowza! This worked really well for you! Really happy you love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this looks amazing! I'm wondering if this will irritate my sensitive eyes (I also wear contacts so I'll have to be careful that the fibers don't fall into my eyes). Your eyelashes look AMAZING, Kristen!
ReplyDeleteWOW! The result is amazing! I tried something like this before, but the fibre is white... and it irritated my eyes like crazy. Your lashes look amazing, Kristen :-)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that's A LOT OF LASHES! I am a little scared of something so fiberly. but the result is REALLY cool! It separates well too, which is very important for me. I don't like the sticky spider leg look :p
ReplyDeleteOmg Kristen. Ive always longed for something thatll actually give the look of false lashes minus the nuisance. Im definitely going to look into buying this. Awesome review.
ReplyDelete.I think eveeryones sold lol!
Thank you, peaches! I can now achieve *Tracy Lashes*!!! SO THRILLED!
ReplyDeleteRight?! I was absolutely shocked! I only had the one instance of the fibers actually going into my eye; I think it was just a fluke. I've been using these every day and it's never happened again. I even applied them at my desk one morning at work when I was running late - with lots of distractions - and experienced no fall out. My eyes are fairly sensitive and even when that one time the fibers fell in, my eyes didn't even water. Definitely worth a look, lady!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lily! I am truly wowed by this product. Probably the best mascara experience I've ever had. If you ever want to try them, I could send you some if you can't get them in Malaysia! :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen some before and afters with CRAY CRAY spider legs and thought "oh dear", but just like any makeup product, it really comes down to user application. I have no issue building up nicely separated, non-spindly craziness with this, though I totally could if that was my preference! It's falsies in a tube! So happy about this discovery!
ReplyDeleteI know, Dee! Who knew falsies in a tube existed?! I LOVE this stuff!! I can't believe how well it works! I hope you do give it a try - the results are truly astonishing!
ReplyDeleteUmm..I just ordered it lol. I want it for stage instead of false eyelashes that I love ..to hate ..but then I love them again. Anywhoo...I'll see how it fares on me too hehe. thnx Kristen!
ReplyDeleteOh one more thing..when I was reading other reviews on it they said with long term use they noticed some loss of lashes so they reserve it for occasional use...maybe something to keep in mind/an eye out for!
ReplyDeleteWORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW HAPPY I AM that you are reviewing this. I've seen this mascara and am like, CRAY. Little fuzz stick and then coats of mascara? What?! I am so happy they sent this to you to try. Your lashes look absolutely divine, child. I'm glad you tried both with a mascara base and without. AND THANK YOU for sharing what 1, 2 and 3 coats looks like! Honestly your reviews!!! Can't get enough!
ReplyDeleteMuch Love, Pugs and Tacos,

Love you like pickled platypus pierogies!

Aw, thanks, Liz! My lashes really do come alive with this mascara. It's still shocking me every time I use it! I wish the shipping was cheaper to .CA land because it's pretty amazing stuff. I hope you find a false fiber mascara that works - and share one of your hysterical reviews about it, too! :D Hopefully involving cheese and/or donuts.
ReplyDeleteWait - stage?! Tell me more! Do you perform slam poetry on weekends?! ;) I'm so excited that you purchased some! Can't wait for you to try it!!
ReplyDeleteHmm, good to know! Thanks for the head's up. I've been using it now for about 2 weeks and haven't noticed any lash loss. So far, so good!
ReplyDeleteLol no...wow the thought of that terrifies me. Its for fitness competitions Kristen.Lashes make a HUGE difference!
ReplyDeleteoh great! thats good to hear. Im waiting for mine now hehe
ReplyDeleteFitness competitions! That is SO COOL! Dee is here to pump *clap* you up! ;)
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes! Is this for real?!! I can't believe what I'm seeing!! Now I understand all the raves surrounding this product! I will have to give it a try soon!
ReplyDeleteOne question: is it difficult to remove?
Ha ha! Yes, they are for REAL! You definitely need to try it - for scientific purposes! No, they remove as easily as non-waterproof mascaras with either soap and water or eye makeup remover. They really dissolve great with coconut oil. I was worried there'd be a process to remove them, but it's no different than any regular mascara I use! They are dreamy!
