You all know I have a soft spot for lip balms. For years, balms were all I wore! I couldn't resist picking up this adorable little Softlips Cube, $3.79 USD, when I spotted it at my local CVS.
The balm is smooth and slick, and leaves a hint of shine; it's very much the same as the Softlips stick balms. Usually formulas feel differently across a brand when they're packaged differently so I'm pretty impressed that the Cube retains the feel of the original formula. The Vanilla Bean flavor is lovely and soft. It's also available in Pomegranate-Blueberry and Fresh Mint.
The formula contains Shea Butter, Vitamins A, C, and E, and SPF 15. The Softlips Cube immediately calls to mind the eos Smooth Lip Balm Sphere due to the design. I find the Softlips version to be slightly smoother on the lips, but the eos balms last a bit longer. I find myself reapplying the Cube every 20-25 minutes or so. While the Softlips Cube is hydrating, it's not as quenching or replenishing as a tube balm such as MAC's Lip Conditioner Tube, Aquaphor, or Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Mask. However, stick balms are never as emollient as tube balms, so I'm not really faulting it there. Texturally, the Softlips Cube reminds me most of Maybelline Baby Lips in Quench.
Overall, I think this is great little balm and I love the pretty packaging design. With only 14 weeks left until Christmas (!!!), the Softlips Cube would make a great stocking stuffer!

ReplyDeleteOh no, don't remind me about Christmas. BECAUSE CHRISTMAS MEANS COLD AND SNOW. :( :( :( :( For some reason I don't ever want 2014 to end, lol.
ReplyDeleteThis has to be one of the cutest lip balm packaging I've ever seen! Love how you arranged it in your photos, too! :D
I agree! 2014 has been a pretty good year for me as well! I always prefer even years to odd, which is weird, LOL! Where in the US do you live again?! Why is this information not cemented into my brain?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliments on my photos! That means a lot coming from you, Ms. Photography Artiste Supreme! =D
Right?! 14 WEEKS!!!! YIKES! I've seen a lot of cosmetics companies releasing their holiday collections this week and felt like it was much too early. After realizing it's only 14 weeks away, I guess not!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I love cute little makeups. And yes, time does fly! In 15 weeks, we'll be ringing in 2015!
ReplyDeleteRight?! It really is so adorable! And yes girl! 14 weeks! Holy snails!
ReplyDeleteScary right?! Happy 2015 - in 15 weeks! :O
ReplyDeleteLOL! Exactly! Jason was like, "You bought another lip balm??? You have 50!". And to that I say, correct. ;)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I LOVE vanilla in lip products especially! :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the sexy version of EOS lip balm! :-) Sounds really great but I haven't spotted them here :-|
ReplyDeleteI really need to try these, everyone seems to love them. I always forget when I walk into a drugstore...I'm that type of person, I NEED a list! LOL!

Looks like the EOS in square packaging! The only stick balm that Ive found SUPER moisurizing like the tube ones are the Blistex ones in berry ( this one http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=78695/Berry-Lip-Balm-SPF-15/Blistex/Lip-Treatments) . Absolutely love it. I would totally buy a tinted version of this SofLips balm .
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I love that! Sexy eos, indeed! :D
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Yes! I actually have a secret pinterest board that I use as a shopping list when I go in drugstores and Target because I get so overwhelmed with everything and leave without getting anything I went in for!
ReplyDeleteBLISTEX! I had a mini addiction to Blistex in the teal tube as a child! The lip balm crackery started young, lolol!
